WHO WE ARE
Leerorkest Aruba gives every child the opportunity to experience the power of music. We believe music is a strong preventive and social tool that helps children grow in confidence, develop social skills, and feel connected. By making music education accessible to all, we ensure that no child is excluded, regardless of background or financial situation.
WHAT WE DO
Leerorkest Aruba offers a comprehensive music education program that reaches children in multiple ways:
-
Morning school program on primary schools
During school hours, children learn to play real musical instruments in a group setting. (Violin, cello, trumpet, trombone, flute, clarinet, double bass and drums) This ensures that every child gets the chance to make music, not just those who already have access outside of school.
-
After School Orkest
After school, children can continue their musical journey by playing together in an orchestra at their own school. This program strengthens teamwork, discipline, and a sense of belonging.
-
Free online music lessons
We develop and offer online music lessons for children from Kindergarten through Grade 6, which are freely available to schools that do not yet have a Leerorkest. In this way, we extend our impact across Aruba and beyond.
In addition, Leerorkest Aruba actively supports local musicians by training and coaching them to become music educators. This creates sustainable employment, strengthens music education on the island, and helps keep Aruban culture and musical traditions alive for future generations.
