Cultural Funding
Where to Look, What to Do and Best Practices

This presentation was given by Gyonne Zafira  as a practical session for cultural organisations, NGOs and creatives who want to become more “subsidy-ready.” It explains what funders look for—such as strong governance, clear roles and responsibilities, transparent financial and narrative reporting, and long-term strategy—while also recognising the specific context of small Caribbean organisations that often work with small boards and many volunteers.

Participants are guided through the Dutch national cultural funds, European and international options, and regional Caribbean funds, and are introduced to tools like the RACI method and a “subsidy governance map” to divide tasks for planning, writing, executing and reporting on projects.

The purpose of the presentation is to help the Let’s Act community strengthen their internal structures and confidence so they can successfully apply for and manage cultural funding, build sustainable projects and show impact for their communities.
