WHO WE ARE

Dutch Quarter Community Council is a group of citizens from the Dutch quarter vicinity, gathering momentum to build a local Community Center where people can Meet, Move, Learn & Play. The foundation focuses on the wellbeing of the neighborhood citizens aiming to achieve a higher level of social cohesion. Other neighborhoods will also benefit from this project

The Let’s Talk Art foundation focuses on cultivating creative dialogue and actively showcases diverse creative talents. Through the enhancement of community engagement by hosting regular events, publishing a yearly magazine and upholding a website, they also promote sustainable careers within the Culture & Creative Industry in the long run and foster collaboration & awareness in the community.

The SXM Creatives Guild is an association that is focused on inspiring the SXM community by developing, supporting, and providing quality inclusive opportunities for persons in the creative industry. They will start to accumulate a pool of members from the creative industry.

WHAT WE DO

The Art in the Neighborhood project encompasses community performing events with local artists in the neighborhoods. Mixers and performances by upcoming and established local artists will be given a platform in each collaborating neighborhood. The project aligns with the mission and vision of both Let’s Talk Art and SXM Creatives Guild and will help fostering awareness/collaboration and visibility in the neighborhoods. The budget covers the purchase of (sound) equipment, the coordination, marketing and promoting of the events and the rent of the facilities.

WHO WE SERVE

The neighborhood citizens, children and adults, will benefit directly from the activities. Social cohesion of the neighborhoods is stimulated and art education is spread widely, allowing for people that are not usually exposed to arts, to understand, be immersed and enjoy. Local talent can be discovered and supported.
