WHO WE ARE

Hearts United Holistic Care Foundation is a non-profit organization which is established to provide a holistic and conducive environment with direct focus on providing care and support to the elderly, individuals and family units on St. Maarten and the surrounding islands. Support may take the form of feeding, mentoring, counseling, seminars / trainings, rehabilitation and elderly care to shut-ins and those that are in need.

 

Les Fruits de Mer is a French non-profit association based in Grand Case, Saint Martin. This association aims to raise awareness and promote ecology, culture and sports. Their focus is to share St. Maarten & Caribbean nature, history, heritage, culture and arts.  They do this through yearly activities like publishing books, having an open museum, publishing weekly newspaper articles, specific events, through websites and digital media, and documentary films.

 

WHAT WE DO

This is a story telling project with seniors that will be compiled in video portraits and in a book. They will record a multitude of stories from the seniors, assisted by teenagers that have worked with this target group in a different project. The portraits will be created and a launch established. These portraits (live or recorded) might be shared with the Sint Maarten National Heritage Foundation & Museum for showcasing. This budget will cover the production, the recording and editing of the stories, the production and graphic design of the book(s) and the organization of a launch, marketing and the equipment rental.

 

WHO WE SERVE

The members of Hearts United Holistic Care foundation will directly benefit from this activity. This foundation was founded in 2020. Due to the social nature of the recording of their stories, the target group benefits. Also, the sharing of one’s personal history can have a holistic effect on the story-teller, while documenting important Sint Maarten history.
